Awkwardly sounding title was originally an authentic statement, formulated by a member of the protocol whose duty was to choose appropriate presents for political partners. It is an assemblage, a group portrait of significant political representatives, with remarks about bizarre diplomatic presents which depicted politicians actually gave to each other. The initial impulse for this work came after seeing president Bush being endowed with a conductor’s whistle and fujara (a huge folk shepherd fipple flute) during Bratislava summit. I found these presents as well as their reflection in the media so absurd that she began to study this problematic and via internet I tried to gather as much information about presents distributed among the politicians as I could. The result of her research comprises a fictional photographical collage and a sociological report commenting on peculiar, smile evocating presents of a political elite.
