Fensterputzer / 2010 / happening

The pharmacy Salvator is one of the oldiest pharmacies in Slovakia and now is for abandoned. It is tipical case of monument, whose disappearance aroused for short moment emotions, but after some time it was forgotten. It´s exterier started to be used for posting up with posters, so after few years it start to be invisible. For vivification of this space, I  decided to clean windows of this pharmacy. With this act I aroused impression that the city started to do something with this building.

The Guards on the Danube river

2009, double slide projection

The work The Guards on the Danube river consists of a double slide projection presenting parts of texts from a book „The guards on the Danube
river“ from edition “Our army”, that tells the stories from the life of border guards. Selected extracts present two contradictory views on propagandistic literature for children before the year 1989. The texts are selected by means of a literary recycling. I kept a form of a
book selecting the most significant parts. My attention was caught by propagandist texts combined with trivial stories. I chooses parts of the book reflecting contemporary rhetoric ranging from using content and idealizing and radical agitation. Selective work with a text also emphasizes distorted perception of borders, work and life of border guards.

SUMMER RESORT / 2008 -2011

summer resort II

2009, postcards 10x15 cm

The island of Lesbos is one of most militant places in Greece, which is due neighbourhood with Turkey and with a number of illegal refugees.
After all the eastern part of the island are placed military bunker, which are of course well hidden, and their proximity to find just the signs on
the prohibition of taking a picture. Since bunker often are placed on the absurd places (on the beach, in olives grove), you can have a bit paranoid feeling that you are pursued everywhere.

after season

2009, site-specific sound installation, performance

Site-specific sound installation consisting of reproductions of the sounds and rushes of swimming pool, that come out as from abandoned swimming pool Zelená žaba (Green frog) in Trenčianske Teplice, situated in the woods above the spa park. The building of the swimming pool „Zelená žaba“ is considered to be gem of functionalist architecture in Slovakia, so the sound installation could be considered simultaneously as the expression of social activism too..

The Secret of One Swimming Pool

The Secret of One Swimming Pool

2006, 24´39´´

The idea to build the open air pool in an old stone pit was born in 1942. Bratislava has always missed functional swimming pools. This pool under the hill should have been a very important project. But everything rests only in plans. In the next 50 years the swimming pool stagnated waste.
Why the pool was never built? We try to find a solution of this decaying area in Bratislava with the mock-documentary. On the basis of historic facts, we faked up the whole story.

...gift should take into account a country and interests of a person to whom it is given...

2005, digital print, 200x100cm

Awkwardly sounding title was originally an authentic statement, formulated by a member of the protocol whose duty was to choose appropriate presents for political partners. It is an assemblage, a group portrait of significant political representatives, with remarks about bizarre diplomatic presents which depicted politicians actually gave to each other. The initial impulse for this work came after seeing president Bush being endowed with a conductor’s whistle and fujara (a huge folk shepherd fipple flute) during Bratislava summit. I found these presents as well as their reflection in the media so absurd that she began to study this problematic and via internet I tried to gather as much information about presents distributed among the politicians as I could. The result of her research comprises a fictional photographical collage and a sociological report commenting on peculiar, smile evocating presents of a political elite.

Homeless real(i)ty

2003-2006,  60x80 cm, digital prints

In the series Homeless Reality I does not point out to a social problem of homelessness but I captures their dwellings in photographs of bright, vivid and exaggerated colours. With reverence I reflected the invention of homeless people when creating their “houses” using the waste of the social majority. Using a visual and a language of tourist guides, I incorporated into photographs of homeless` dwellings the icons informing us about striking vistas, swimming etc. in these, in principle, bleak areas. The series of the photographs does not include their inhabitants
in order to avoid sociographical cliché and by its overall realization becomes a paraphrase of campaigns organized by tourist agencies.

Happening vivification of functionless places

2001, 80x56 cm,digital prints

Photohappening on four forgotten, abandoned places of Bratislava, which should them at least for short time give back a life. I observes
features, being more or less, on the edge of interest, forgotten sites of old Bratislava (a former mini-golf course in Železná Studienka,
derelict rosarium near PKO, abandoned functionless swimming pool in Žižkova Street).
